WHY EFFICIENT LIVING IS A MUST FOR BUSY MAMAS, AND HOW TO GET STARTED

Motherhood brings with it a slew of tasks and distractions. If you want to have any hope of getting the important things done, you have to start practicing efficient living.

What the heck do I mean by efficient living?

Well, I often say that my passion is teaching moms to live simply, efficiently, and joyfully.

When we’re focused on the simple living aspect, we’re considering WHAT we’ll focus on–what we’ll have in our homes, in our calendars, and on our to-do lists.

When we’re thinking about living joyfully, we’re focusing on our WHY for living this life–the things that bring meaning, purpose, and happiness to our days.

Efficient living is all about the HOW—the nuts and bolts of making this simple, joyful life run like a well-oiled machine every day.

Living Efficiently Means Putting Yourself in the Driver’s Seat

Intentional, efficient mamas know that even though we might not be able to choose our circumstances, we can choose how we will show up in our lives every day.

We recognize that, if we’re not actively choosing how we’ll spend our days, we’re letting other people’s priorities or our own outdated habits and decisions make today’s choices for us.

And so, we do our best to make a plan wherever we can.

Efficient Living Means Planning In Advance

An intentional life requires a little bit of structure to keep it running smoothly. We plan things in advance rather than allowing our days to just happen to us.

Whether we’re planning our meals or doing household chores, we know exactly what needs to happen when. When the time comes to do something, we can simply execute it rather than fumble around deciding what to do next.

Living Efficiently Requires Putting Great Habits and Routines Into Place

We intentional moms work to hack our habits so that the stuff that gets done all the time can be done in the way we want to do it without thinking much about it.

We know that there is a simple process to making habits stick. Then, we can stack one habit on top of another to supercharge ourselves and make our days ones that we are proud of.

We create routines that help certain parts of our days run on automatic pilot. This assures that the things that are very important to us get done.

Whether it’s a morning routine, an evening routine, or something else we do every day, we make sure that our routines rock. They not only include the work that we have to do, but also elements to pamper ourselves and make life fun.

Efficient Living Means Setting Goals and Taking the Necessary Steps to Achieve Them

Intentional mamas set goals for ourselves both as mothers, and as vibrant, capable women in our own right. We know there is an art and science to setting these goals. We do our best to make our goals SMART, to break the goals down into manageable steps, and to set up accountability systems so that we don’t let ourselves down.

Although we know we don’t have to be productivity machines, we appreciate the feeling of accomplishment that comes from checking items off of our to-do lists. We relish the pride we get from fulfilling our life’s purpose.

Efficient Living is Easier When You’ve Got the Right Tools In Place

Intentional, efficient mamas use the best tools available to us to make our lives easier. These might be great apps to help us stay organized or terrific toys to keep our kids active when they have to stay inside.

In fact, we look for any hack that will save us time and effort.

Efficient Living Means Having a Backup Plan

And when life gets a little crazy—because we’re solo parenting, because the time changes, or because we get sick, we’ve still got a plan of action for ways to make life great.

If life drops a bomb in the form of a cancer diagnosis or the need to homeschool, we tweak our plans, make a schedule, and get on with enjoying our lives.
